Harish Badami is the president & managing director of Dow Chemical International Private Limited (Dow India), based at the company’s headquarters in Mumbai.
Harish joined Rohm and Haas in India in 1995, and since that time has held positions of increasing responsibility in sales & business development, regional procurement and strategic planning. In October 2001, Harish was appointed country manager of Rohm and Haas India, as well as area business manager overseeing two of Rohm and Haas’ core businesses - Coatings and Adhesives & Sealants. In 2004, Harish took over the regional role of general manager, architectural and functional coatings for South East Asia and India, based out of Singapore. |

Harish was named president and managing director, India in January 2007, and joined the leadership council of Rohm and Haas Company, USA. He was named a corporate vice president of Rohm and Haas Company in September 2007. Harish was instrumental in leading the very successful India strategy for Rohm and Haas which included investments in state-of-the-art manufacturing plants at Taloja near Mumbai in 2003 and a second facility at Sriperambatur near Chennai in 2007. Under him, Rohm and Haas achieved rapid and significant growth and market leadership positions across several specialty chemical markets. Post the global acquisition of Rohm and Haas by The Dow Chemical Company in April 2009, Harish was named president and area director for Dow Advanced Materials Division, India before being named to his current role in January 2010.
Harish has almost 20 years experience in the chemical industry, mostly in India. Before joining Rohm and Haas, he spent six years with ICI India and served in ICI’s chemicals and catalysts divisions in various commercial and business roles. He also spent a year in the gases industry with British Oxygen Company, early in his career.
Harish earned his Bachelor of Technology degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay in 1985, and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta in 1989. He has also served as member of the executive committee of the Indian Chemical Council. |
