Habitat for Humanity India, in its endeavor to mitigate the impact of housing on the environment, is constantly experimenting with alternative materials and technologies. Under its recent initiatives in the year gone by, Habitat has piloted the following projects;
Recycled Tetra Pak roofing sheets
Built 12 houses using recycled tetra pak sheets for roofing in two project areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra States.
Rural High Slope Pans
Built 60 Toilets in the districts of Pune and Ahmednagar of Maharashtra State, using rural high slope pans and which help conserve water, as almost 85% lesser quantity of water is required to pour flush.
