ImPact 50-50

Impact5050

A safe and decent place to stay is the starting point from where a family can live with dignity. At Habitat India, we believe that housing is at the centre of development with water and sanitation as the basic needs that must be met. Two parallel ideas of holistic and integrated change with a district approach to planning bring us to Habitat India’s new strategy, ImPact 50-50. This strategy aims at making ‘Housing for All’ and ‘Total Sanitation’ a reality for 100 districts in India.

The ImPact 50-50 strategy is a holistic approach which provides low income families with housing and sanitation solutions and strives to create a positive influence at the community, sector and societal levels. It is a multi–sector, multi–year and multi-donor approach. ImPact 50-50 helps galvanize corporate support to sustainable change, allowing for their participation in impacting the multiple facets of human development. We adopt a systematic district by district planning approach and bring together relevant stakeholders aligning them with governments and developing market based approaches to create sustainable and scalable models that will lead to greater community impact.

It calls for coming together of all stakeholders under the Public-Private-People’s Partnership (4Ps) approach. The strategy is aligned with ‘Housing for All by 2022’ aimed at providing affordable homes for the families in need and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ for eliminating open defecation in India by 2019.’
