Impact Asia & India Builders Night
Impact Asia is Habitat for Humanity’s response to a huge housing challenge in the Asia-Pacific region where almost 800 million people live in substandard housing. The aim of Impact Asia is to mobilize an expanded network of partners who share Habitat’s vision of building communities in Asia-Pacific and lead the development of new approaches to address affordable housing and related issues. The ambitious goal is to reach 25 million people in the region by 2020; enabling 15 million people to secure safe and affordable homes and engaging a further 10 million as volunteers, advocates and supporters.
Helmed by the Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific Development Council – a strategic advisory group composed of committed volunteers who are distinguished business and community leaders – Impact Asia rallies partners from multiple levels of society. Habitat is engaging influential and dynamic corporate leaders, the youth, and public figures and celebrities – as ‘Leadership Builders’, ‘Young Game Changers’ and ‘Ambassadors’ respectively. These partners are helping to drive Habitat’s development initiatives collectively and individually by impacting communities and creating exciting new avenues for regional cooperation. From 6 to 7 October 2016, the Asia-Pacific Development Council together with the regional and global leadership of Habitat for Humanity will gather in Mumbai, India to review accomplishments since Impact Asia was launched in 2014, and discuss new initiatives and special projects that will mobilize significant resources for the campaign.
A highlight of the meeting is the Impact Asia and India Builders Night, a charity gala dinner to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of Habitat for Humanity in India and to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of the Carter Work Project in Lonavala, Maharashtra. The celebratory event will be held on 6th October 2016.
As a curtain-raiser for the gala dinner, Habitat for Humanity India will organize a CEO Dialogue – a roundtable that gathers business leaders to discuss the shared value of being social responsible in the sectors of housing and sanitation for low-income families. Experts and corporate leaders will share best practices on social investment through housing and sanitation.
