A world where every child has a decent place to live

Children of Habitat home partners spend a day with Bikram Saluja, model turned actor at Hegdenagar, Bangalore where they reside, were given gifts by Sony Pix. These home partners are daily wage earners and were resettled from Ejipura slum to Hegdenagar by the state government and their homes built by Habitat. Accompanying Bikram Saluja was the Marketing Head, Sony Pix, Mr Himmat Bhutalia.

The kids shared their aspirations. One of the kids, Shubhalakshmi said “The house has made a great difference. Earlier, when it rained, my books used to get wet as water entered our house. But with the new house my books are safe and I have enough space for studies at home. I aspire to become a doctor”. Habitat for Humanity matched the savings of her mother Alamelu to help her build this home. All the children expressed their joy for being a part of the event and thanked Sony Pix for the gifts. Shortly, the film Slumdog Millionaire will be screened at Hegdenagar and the gifts viz; school bags, notebooks, pen and pencils will be distributed to other children in the community.

Bikram Saluja stated that he never got such an opportunity to be with children and share his time. He was very appreciative of the good work that Habitat for Humanity and the partner NGO, BIRDS were doing. Himmat Bhutalia thanked Habitat for organizing the event on behalf of Sony Pix.
